  As Militia got closer she realized the meat was from a person

  Sweat began to form on her head and she ran out of the hut and saw the entire village was in flames.

  Eta burst out and grabbed onto Milyte biting at her face and neck. Militia threw her off and prepared to battle with the girl but she was shot with a beam of magic by the mothers

  “You did not head our warnings look what has happened”

  “My goddess, what can I do”

  “You must find the dragon lord Bardi and his dragon sword”

  “Where must I go”

  The mothers pointed to the mountains

  She leaves there

  “Quick young queen, we can use magic to freeze the girls but eventually it will lose potency”

  The mothers leaned in and kissed their queen and then she was off

  Atu rode Orluf through toward the village when he heard screams echo through the darkened forest. He tried his best to remain calm but the screams continued to echo through his head.

  “Demons are here,” said Orluf

  “What has happened”

  “We must find another route”

  “This is the only path in and out we must continue,” said Atu

  “Yes but there is dark magic here”

  Atu got off Orluf and grabbed his crossbow looking among the trees he saw dark figures springing off the branches like monkeys

  “Leave me be demons I wish to pass through, I mean no harm”

  The dark figures grew in number

  “What the hell is going on here Orluf”

  “It is the Jinx of Twilight”

  “Pray you are joking”

  The Jinx was thought to be just a myth but it seems to be real. The Jinx is a parasite who feeds off a person’s soul. Corrupting it and making it hollow and empty, it eventually destroys the host body leaving nothing more than a beast of burden in its place.

  Atu aimed his arrow at the closest dark figure and it falls to the ground

  Atu and Orluf walked up to the fallen creature and saw the that at one time the creature was female.

  “She was an Amazon, now she is a creature of the Jinx”

  The others start to chant in a loud and confusing matter

  “Quick prince get on my back we must run”

  “Atu did what he was told climbing on top of the loyal Sphinx and at high-speed Orluf charged through the forest”

  Armed with a crossbow Atu shot at the Jinxed Amazons

  “There are too many of them”

  “We are almost by the lake there is a little island with an ancient temple, we can hide there”

  “Very well,” said Atu shooting his last bow at the Jinxed Amazon hitting one in the face and the other in the neck

  “Damn demons”

  The two made it to the lake and Orlif stopped

  “What is wrong”

  “I hate water”

  Atu did some quick thinking and saw a little raft on the far side of the lake

  “Come Orlif”

  They charged for the raft and saw behind them the hoard of naked purple amazons charging at them.

  When they got to the raft ahead of the hoard, they were shocked to find an Amazon run out of the high forest. She looked at them then the raft, they both ran after it. The Amazon took out a sword and prepared herself

  Atu got off his Sprinix

  “Listen we do not want to harm you, we are after the same thing this raft will not be able to carry all of us”

  “That sucks for you,” said the Amazon her sword ready

  “Listen to reason, we must escape the savages”

  “They are not savages they are my sisters”

  Atu saw in the light of day the beauty of the strong amazon, her tanned legs and body her loincloth hanging over her sex.”

  Atu felt a surge of warmth between his legs but blocked the thoughts

  This isn’t the time idiot

  “I can take you but not that beast,” said the Amazon

  “This beast is my friend he knows”

  But before he could finish the Amazon jumps into the water and starts to swim, Atu and the spring shrug their shoulders at each other and get into the raft

  When they reach the island

  The Amazon had already started a fire

  Atu and Orluf made their fire and the two parties slept with their weapons close at hand.

  Near them stood the entrance to the temple of Sorrows.

  Some say it is a portal to the underworld.

  “Listen, old friend, when morning comes, we must be ready to fight”

  “Yes, my lord I do not much about amazons but I do know they can not be trusted, they rely on their instincts and aren’t brightest creatures”

  “Yes my lord”

  With that, they fell asleep

  Atu awoke tied to a tree

  “Dammit, she then saw the Amazon near the edge crafting her meal. She had a small rabbit skinned on a stick the meat was almost done and smelled lovely.

  “Hey I thought we were friends”

  The Amazon didn’t answer but continued to turn the rabbit looking over at Atu briefly she had a wicked smile on her face.

  Was she going to eat me thought Atu

  Then the Amazon stood her body was on full display she walked over to Atu and put her hands over his face

  “You are a very handsome man, you make me warm, I shall have you”

  “Have me, you savage”

  Then the amazon squatted down and pulled off the princes pants and then she backed away

  “You are not hard”

  “It’s because I’m tied to a tree, not really sexy”

  Chapter One

  Lisa was on the run. After being kicked out for late payments she hit the streets hard.

  Life was pretty rough and she couldn't handle the reality that much anymore. It was kinda a bummer and she wasn't alone. Her roommate split town after learning that he owed some mobsters some money. Lisa and homelessness went together like Swiss cheese and ketchup. She was out of options so she showed up at the local salvation army. The place was full on the men side but the women's was pretty open. She didn't really have a choice in the matter so she went to the woman's side. trying to duck out of the crazy and hungry stares of the men.

  The woman in front of her was singing a song, that Lisa knew from her childhood. It was a Beatles song "Her comes the sun" but the way she was singing it made grey clouds look cheerful.

  In other words, it depressed the hell out of Lisa. but she kept her wits about her and followed the line inside the cool air-conditioned room.

  A woman about the size of a small child had her hair pushed back in a ponytail. Lisa took her for Irish, but she could be anything white. There was no music, the girl stopped singing as the small woman
made them all sit in a plastic chair.

  "My name is Michelle and since you are all new I'm going to tell you the rules"

  "Curfew is four clock if you don't have a job, you must be lined up outside by no later than that time to get a bed."

  "If you are late your bed will be given to someone else"

  "We are a booze and drug-free facility you will be breathalyzed and searched when you return from outside."

  "Do you have any questions?" Said Michelle with a strange smile on her face

  The woman next to Lisa whispered

  "Looks like someone didn't get hugged as a child"

  Lisa smiled to please the woman but kept her eyes forward

  "Did you hear what I said?" said the woman

  "Yes I heard you"

  "Good you look at me when you talk to me"

  "I'm sorry"

  Michelle stood in front of the two woman her presence made her much taller than she is.

  "You can go first maim stand up," said Michelle pointing at the woman she got up

  "What is your name"

  "Pat"

  Pat looked at Lisa with a hungry smile

  Lisa nodded she then was sent inside the main building. There was a dining room an upstairs to the corner was the men's section. They were lying about some were playing chess while other were trading stories, some were sleeping in chairs in front of the TV.

  "The women are upstairs," said another staff member who had just come from the men's area.

  "OK it's my first time"

  "I'll show you then, my name is John"

  John was young and handsome his fitted shirt looked good on him. The red matched him.

  "Male staff he," he said in a loud deep voice

  "I have to do that for privacy reasons"

  John took her to the women's section, and to her bunk

  After John left Lisa climbed to her bed and closed her eyes

  All she could see was the endless fields and the game Amazon Tamer, it's all she could think about and all she wanted.

  It was pretty sad but inside the game, she was somebody, in fact, she was a queen. Out here she was a homeless girl looking for love, she didn't really care anymore the game was just more real.

  The intercom sounded with Michelle telling the entire building that Dinner was being served. Women and Children, first she heard and got up and climbed down and right there was Pat.

  "I guess were bunkmates"

  Chapter Two

  Cora didn't hear the news how could she had better things to do manly how to not starve. After the death the emperor the capital had been under siege. It was long and hard on the people of the capital. Most died the old and young were left to defend themselves. Cora was determined not to let her family die.

  Her job if you could call it that was to find food. That was it she didn't have dreams she just wanted her family safe.

  Which consented of her younger brother and her sick older mother. They lived on the east side of the capital and if she had been home in the morning she would have heard the speech.

  The speech that changed everything for the people living in the capital. It was from the new ruler's spokesman.

  People of Dion, We have freed you from the anarchy that you had to endure. Now you have a taste of order. That order comes from the royal twins of your late ruler. We have won back our capital from traitors and rebels, although they have fought a battle they run now and have abandoned you. But we will not we will have an order in the face of their chaos. All who do not fall in line will be punished or enslaved. You have not tasted servitude. There is no land beyond us and even the sea is no safe refuge when we are threatened by our fleets….We are the last people on earth, and the last to be free: ….   The spokesmen had spoken to the large crowds gathered outside the royal palace in the large courtyard. No more private property and all able-bodied males over sixteen were to be drafted.

  The people had a mixed reaction but they were dramatized by the war and hungered for stability.

  The two brothers showed themselves to the crowd, they wore shiny new armor that shined in the morning sun.

  They had a hand on each other's shoulders and stood as the crowd began to cheer their name

  The capital has fallen and if Cora was around she would have left the city if she would find a way to bring her family with her.

  But of Cora, of course, didn't hear this she was near one of her favorite place to steal from. A large market that sold high prices foods and vegetables.

  Cora looked for the long wooden ladder that
leads to a small stone apartment building balcony

  She found it and climbed the ladder to the balcony. The streets were bare and very quiet. She just figured the people we rent awake yet. Being that it was very early time but Cora continues the path to the market by

  Jumping from the balcony to the next eventually she comes to the market roof.

  There was a little door that when opened revealed another ladder that leads to the storage room

  Cora had gotten some nice tasty grub from the market

  Even though she hated a small amount of guilt when she first started. But that faded when the capital stopped providing its citizen with the basic needs.

  Cora knew the dangers of being caught stealing, but under the new rule, she would be treated far worse. She would be considered nonhuman, something that can be bought or sold.

  Cora was a beautiful young woman even though she kept her hair short and wore the clothes of a male. Anyone with two eyes could see that Cora had a beautiful body tan and strong.

  If caught she would go straight to the harems. Where the girl's where skimpy dresses and feed grapes to slave masters. They are then mounted any time and must walk the house of their masters with bells on their ankles so he knows where she is.

  Cora shivered at this thought if she only knew what happened to her capital. She was determined to find the food even with these dangers showing themselves in clarity.

  Cora climbed down the ladder, dust, and deb re where everywhere there wasn't much light in the place. but when she started to move about she felt something sharp bite her on the leg and she fell to the floor.

  The room was illuminated, and standing before her was two of the ugliest men she had ever seen. They both smelled bad and had rotten teeth one of them smiled. He hit his partner on the shoulder

  "I think we found the monkey that has been stealing our shit"
